Customer Engagement Pyramid is getting wider at the bottom

Frankly I’m not sure if it should be really called a pyramid. But with your business on the top and your market lined up on the other side with converging customer engagements leading to your revenue kitty, probably it gives the right picture.

IT Nation 2013

It looks to be a busy week!

There is the #HTGleaderQ4 going on right now which has been pretty good so far. And then, there is IT Nation 2013 starting today. And then of course, there is Vembu 6.1, integrated backup, DR, sharing and collaboration for MSPs, QA for which is going on in full swing. From what I have seen so far, the new version is bound to be huge!

Our last update for our cloud backup offering was a big step ahead considering we made some drastic changes in the UI. Now combine that with the revolutionary change in architecture that v6.1 is seeing and I would easily say, it is going to be a giant leap for us and all our partners.

With cloud backup companies shutting down, it is evident that it is extremely crucial to choose the right cloud backup vendor for your customers’ data. Sneak Peek into our next breakthrough release: Vembu v6.1 – Integrated Backup, DR, File Sharing & Collaboration

Our engineers are all excited about our next big release – Vembu Backup, DR, File Sharing & Collaboration v 6.1 and there is a reason behind it. Our next release is a revolutionary design change the way backup data is handled. Without further ado – let me quickly get into the feature list of the new release and explain why it’s going to be an exciting release for MSPs.

At a high level – Below are the new features MSPs can expect in our next release

  1. Vembu SGFS – Block Level Storage File System where all backup data are stored as blocks

  2. Variable-length global deduplication (maximum storage reduction)

  3. Data blocks in SGFS can be compressed and encrypted for further storage reduction and enhanced security

  4. Backup Data stored  in SGFS can be mounted as a volume and files restored for the Windows explorer interface.

  5. A full disk image backup can also be browsed for  file / folder level restores directly from SGFS mounted volume

  6. Disk Image / BMR backups can be instantaneously booted as VHD or VMDK files directly from the mounted SGFS volume

  7. Reverse Incremental Backups and instantaneous point-in-time restores with no merging time

  8. Integrated Backup & DR and File Sharing  & Collaboration from one unified centralized platform as a bundled packaging option

  9. WAN accelerated backups with increased network efficiency and lot’s more…

All the above features are made possible with our user space, high performing file system which has in-built supports for variable length deduplication, compression and encryption.

Backup & DR and File Sharing & Collaboration

Starting from Vembu v 6.0 we are bundling both Backup & File Sharing solution into a single platform as an optional packaging where both these services can be installed together and offered from a central Vembu server. The idea is for MSPs to offer both BDR and File sharing solutions to small businesses based on business requirements and ability to monitor and manage the solution from a central platform. This means there is one bundled installer and the ability for the admin to manage and improve monitoring efficiency and offer a full blown data management solution to business customers. Because of the new design and all the performance improvements we have made to the product, our file sharing module also gets a new facelift with the strong back-end infrastructure to ensure better stability and reliability.

Are your backups really restorable? Think again.

Here’s the story of an MSP based out of Atlanta who signed up with us last month. The MSP who was using another backup software was happy with the product until disaster struck. He realized to his horror that the backups that they assumed were restorable were actually not restorable at all! And this was discovered only at the time of restore.
