Highlights from Kaseya Connect 2012
It was an incredible experience where we met many IT executives, MSPs, bloggers and industry analysts. The perspectives we gained from this event were insightful and informative.
Some highlights we took from the event, includes:
-
More than 50% of the IT execs and MSPs we met wanted to use virtualized environments for disaster recovery in the next 6 months or so. And many focused on speed to recovery or a near-instant failover into their private cloud environments.
-
Many MSPs want to re-position themselves to offer disaster recovery services with more focus on business continuity and service recovery, not just backup

Whats a Zettabyte ?
The Information complex competes with Astronomy in how much bigger its going to get and how far we are going to go. After Petabytes and Exabytes, we have been given the Zettabytes. Supposedly, you will hear a lot about this extraordinary quantum of data measurement by 2015 as per an infographic courtesy of Cisco on internet traffic though we have likely crossed this figure in terms of data created and stored worldwide.
The biggest contributor to all this data is video accounting for 50% of all internet by 2012 and the plethora of internet enabled devices such as smartphone, tablets, … Read the rest

We Desperately Need New Information Management Systems
Information is like currency: if you have a lot of it (and are willing to share) your perceived value to certain segments of society is automatically elevated. Whether that knowledge is relevant to a social circle, political institution, corporation, or any other segment, it’s your relative ability to contribute to the pool of collective knowledge that really matters. Being an informed person isn’t something that just happens, though. A valuable knowledge base can only be built with time and commitment.
Twenty years ago this process of gathering information and staying up to date could almost be considered a trivial task. … Read the rest

Zukmo is taking aim at the traditionally scattered means by which we access our information, bringing it all together in a lightweight cloud-based app that is becoming drastically more powerful and versatile with each new week’s release. As someone who has benefitted greatly from using it, I’ll take this … Read the rest

Ensure Continuous Access to Your Delicious Bookmarks from Your Zukmo Library
Several weeks ago it came to our attention that Delicious’s acquisition could result in suspended support for using Yahoo! accounts to access their services. To ensure uninterrupted access to your Delicious bookmarks in Zukmo we have altered the way we exchange data with Delicious.
We request that if you currently use your Yahoo! username and password to sync your Delicious bookmarks with your Zukmo library, that you instead use your Delicious-provided username and password. This can be done via the following:
1) Log in to your Zukmo account
2) Hover your mouse over your username displayed at the top of … Read the rest
