Highlights from Kaseya Connect 2012

It was an incredible experience where we met many IT executives, MSPs, bloggers and industry analysts. The perspectives we gained from this event were insightful and informative.

Some highlights we took from the event, includes:

  1. More than 50% of the IT execs and MSPs we met wanted to use virtualized environments for disaster recovery in the next 6 months or so. And many focused on speed to recovery or a near-instant failover into their private cloud environments.

  2. Many MSPs want to re-position themselves to offer disaster recovery services with more focus on business continuity and service recovery, not just backup

Whats a Zettabyte ?

The Information complex competes with Astronomy in how much bigger its going to get and how far we are going to go. After Petabytes and Exabytes, we have been given the Zettabytes. Supposedly, you will hear a lot about this extraordinary quantum of data measurement by 2015 as per an infographic courtesy of Cisco on internet traffic though we have likely crossed this figure in terms of data created and stored worldwide.

The biggest contributor to all this data is video accounting for 50% of all internet by 2012 and the plethora of internet enabled devices such as smartphone, tablets, … Read the rest

Lessons From Pitch San Francisco 2011 – Zukmo Is Going Social!

On Thursday we had the pleasure attending Pitch San Francisco 2011, where technology startups from around the world converged on San Francisco’s AT&T Park to demo the next wave of products aimed at capturing the hearts, and minds (and yes, wallets, too) of consumers and enterprises everywhere. With close to a hundred presenters, several big-name VC firms, and thousands of techies in attendance, it was quite the hodgepodge of professionals and novices and was nothing short of a spectacular event.

Though we didn’t get a chance to fully demo Zukmo this time around, we did have the opportunity to … Read the rest

We Desperately Need New Information Management Systems

Information is like currency: if you have a lot of it (and are willing to share) your perceived value to certain segments of society is automatically elevated. Whether that knowledge is relevant to a social circle, political institution, corporation, or any other segment, it’s your relative ability to contribute to the pool of collective knowledge that really matters. Being an informed person isn’t something that just happens, though. A valuable knowledge base can only be built with time and commitment.

Twenty years ago this process of gathering information and staying up to date could almost be considered a trivial task. … Read the rest

A Brief Glimpse into Zukmo’s Past

It’s difficult to believe, given how far we’ve come, that Zukmo’s alpha launch was just a little over a year ago. With the tremendous pace at which things have been progressing we’ve seldom had the time to sit down and reflect on the events that actually led up to where we are today.

Zukmo’s story really began with our CEO, Sekar Vembu. As a co-founder and business unit head for the now wildly successful Zoho Corporation (formerly known as AdventNet), Sekar’s experience and reputation for excellence truly preceded him when he finally left to found Vembu Technologies in 2004, a … Read the rest

A First Hand Look at Enhancing Productivity With Zukmo’s Information Management Tools

Zukmo is in the process of revolutionizing how we manage our information sources, documents, files, and media. Today, bookmarks are stored in our browsers, documents are strewn across desktops or cloud-accounts, friends and coworkers are encountered more on social networks than in person, and RSS updates are handled just about everywhere. Zukmo is taking aim at the traditionally scattered means by which we access our information, bringing it all together in a lightweight cloud-based app that is becoming drastically more powerful and versatile with each new week’s release. As someone who has benefitted greatly from using it, I’ll take this … Read the rest

Avoid Waiting for Automatic Updates – Update Your Zukmo Browser Button Instantly!

Every new release opens an exciting new chapter for our users, improving their ability to store and manage information with Zukmo. With the rapid release of so many new features and improvements, however, we sometimes find ourselves in a bit of a conundrum with our constantly updated browser buttons.

Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari go through a rigorous review process to ensure that each update we submit is clean, free of issues, and offers a streamlined, integrated experience with their browser. This, of course, takes time on their end, and until they complete the process … Read the rest
